The Career Path Of Gilles Alex
Gilles Alex accompanies executives and expatriates during their international mobility, particularly when they return from expatriation.
For over 25 years, he has coached numerous teams within multinationals such as L’Oréal, Danone, Citibank, Savencia and Südzucker in countries as diverse as Japan, Iran, the United Kingdom, the Arab Emirates and Morocco. He has experienced the highlights of mobility: the departure to the chosen country, the integration and especially the return to France. During each stage, he was able to manage the opportunities but also the associated risks.
His conviction: appreciating the difference and knowing one’s difference are assets to make the difference in a volatile and multi-faceted world, especially if the world is your playground.
Fluent in English, German, and Japanese, Gilles enjoys accompanying executives operating in a multicultural environment. He helps them put their unique skills into value and develop their project in France or abroad. Whether it’s a career development, a transition upon return from expatriation or the search for the future dream assignment, he treats each project like a start-up, with energy and creativity. As a passionate entrepreneur, he likes to discover new horizons and new perspectives. To do so, he can rely on his extensive network in many countries –in France- but also in the USA, Western Europe, Japan and Africa.
His professional experiences
Gilles is a “serial entrepreneur” who created, successfully managed and sold several companies in France and Mauritius in the fields of trade, food production and software development.
In search of excellence and passionate about coaching multicultural teams and developing talent, Gilles has also lined up missions abroad within multinational companies. He managed a large sales force for Danone in Iran (150 people) and was a member of the Executive Committee of Agrana Fruit – €650m turnover – a subsidiary of Südzucker. During this 5-year period, Gilles managed and coached the executives of expatriate subsidiaries in Germany, Serbia and Morocco.
Gilles is a graduate of ESCP Europe (EAP program) and holds an MBA from the Wharton School, supplemented by some training in international relations (MA -International Studies – University of Pennsylvania) and languages at the Lauder Institute (Japanese).
In 2020, Gilles started a full cycle of Master in Business Coaching at International Mozaïk and is preparing his dissertation on subjects that have long been close to his heart such as the impact of diversity on the Group’s performance as well as the impact of culture (of the country, of the organization, of the group) on the performance of the executive. For this reason and as a coach, he strives to create the conditions that foster self-awareness, adaptability and resilience.
